Dust, moisture, sunlight, dirt and accidental knocks can all affect a table over time. A properly fitted table cover gives the playing surface and frame an extra layer of protection between sessions.
Do You Really Need a Table Tennis Table Cover?
If your table is used frequently indoors in a clean, dry room, a cover is useful rather than essential. If it lives in a garage, outbuilding, communal area or outdoors, the case for covering it becomes much stronger.
Outdoor-table manufacturers distinguish between indoor and outdoor models because the playing surfaces and frames are built differently. Our current protective cover is designed for folded table tennis tables and can be used for indoor or outdoor storage. The product specification lists Oxford cloth, a black finish and an approximate size of 165 × 70 × 185 cm.
The supplied specification also lists a 190T polyester taffeta construction with PU coating and 2000 mm water-pressure resistance, plus built-in securing ropes and a foldable design for storage.

This is one of the most important steps. Table-tennis tables and folding mechanisms vary. Do not assume that “full-size table” automatically means every cover will fit every folded table in exactly the same way.
Our cover is approximately 165 cm high × 70 cm deep × 185 cm wide in its covered configuration. Measure your table while it is folded/stored and compare those dimensions before ordering.
How to Fit and Use a Table Tennis Cover
Fold and secure the table according to the manufacturer's instructions first. Make sure the tabletop is reasonably clean and dry, then lower the cover over the stored table without dragging it unnecessarily across corners or fittings. Use the securing ropes to reduce movement.
Before uncovering after rain, brush or wipe away standing water and debris so it does not fall onto the table as you remove the cover.
Should You Cover a Wet Table?
Where practical, let the table and cover dry before long-term storage. Trapping moisture for extended periods can create an unnecessarily damp micro-environment, particularly in humid garages or sheds.
A waterproof outer layer helps stop rain reaching the table directly, but ventilation and dry storage conditions still matter. Always prioritise the care instructions supplied by your table manufacturer.
What About Wind?

If severe weather is expected, moving the table to a more sheltered location is safer than assuming the cover alone will protect the entire setup.
How to Clean the Cover
Remove loose dirt first, then wipe the cover with water and a mild cleaning solution where needed. Avoid aggressive chemicals unless the manufacturer specifically permits them. Allow it to dry before folding it away for an extended period.
Regularly inspect securing points and the fabric around corners because those areas take the most stress during fitting and windy conditions.
Waterproof vs Weatherproof: What's the Difference?
Marketing terminology can be confusing. “Waterproof” generally refers to resistance to water penetration, whereas “weatherproof” can imply broader resistance to outdoor conditions such as sun, wind and temperature. Neither term means equipment can be ignored indefinitely in every climate.
For our current TT Hub cover, the useful concrete specification is the listed PU-coated fabric with 2000 mm water-pressure resistance. That's more informative than relying on a vague all-weather claim.
