The VICTAS Koji Matsushita is a premium 5-ply all-wood defensive blade developed with four-time Olympian Koji Matsushita for the modern defensive game. Handmade in Japan, it combines the touch and control needed for heavy chopping with enough reserve power to counterattack when a weaker ball appears.

Why Choose the VICTAS Koji Matsushita?

Modern Defensive BalanceBuilt for players who defend with control and variation but still want the freedom to attack when the opportunity arrives.

5-Ply All-Wood FeelA thin 5.4 mm all-wood construction delivers clear feedback, touch and a controlled response without the sharper rebound of carbon.

Oversized Defensive HeadThe 165 × 155 mm blade face provides the larger hitting area many choppers prefer for stability and confidence under pressure.

Performance & Playing Characteristics

The Koji Matsushita combines a 6/10 TT Hub speed rating with 9.5/10 control. Its slim, flexible all-wood construction is tuned for absorbing and managing incoming pace, producing controlled chops and changing spin and depth rather than simply slowing the ball down.

Away from the table, the oversized head and controlled rebound help provide confidence against repeated topspin. Closer to the table, the blade offers the touch needed for pushes, blocks and short defensive play. When the opponent leaves a weaker ball, there is enough elasticity to drive or loop rather than remaining permanently passive.

This makes the Koji Matsushita particularly well suited to combination bats: for example, long pimples on the backhand for disruption and chopping with an inverted forehand rubber for spin and counterattack.

Who Is the VICTAS Koji Matsushita For?

Best suited to intermediate, advanced and competitive defenders, traditional choppers wanting more attacking freedom, and modern defenders who mix backspin defence with selective attacks.

Players who attack almost every ball may prefer an ALL/OFF blade, while defenders wanting the slowest possible response may prefer an ultra-defensive model. The Koji Matsushita sits in a useful middle ground: unmistakably defensive, but not one-dimensional. Available handles are FL (Flared) and ST (Straight).
